🦓 Meet the Grant’s Zebra! 🦓
Did you know there are three zebra species, and the Grant’s zebra is one of the six subspecies of the plains zebra? You can spot them by their longer mane and larger ears!
Native to the grasslands and savannas of eastern and southern Africa, these herbivores can weigh up to 700 lbs and sprint at speeds of up to 40 mph 👀💨 Their excellent eyesight and hearing help them stay alert in the wild.
Every zebra’s stripes are one-of-a-kind, just like our fingerprints! Not only do they help zebras recognize each other, but when standing together, those stripes also confuse predators. Bonus fun fact: white stripes reflect light while black stripes absorb heat, helping regulate body temperature.
Foals are on the move fast by walking within 20 minutes of birth and running within an hour, so they can keep up with the herd 🖤🤍
